April 2019 Meeting

  • Program: Threads, Needles and Tension
  • Speaker: Jolene Guderjahn

Jolene is the owner of Quiltin4Fun located in Wichita, KS,  an internet only business that grew out of her love for longarm quilting. A past KLQ board member, this is her second trip speaking to our guild about Threads and Tension. A self-professed “just for me” quilter on a KenQuilt Royal (no longer taking on longarm quilting orders for customers), Jolene loves longarm quilting and sharing her knowledge with others.

Visit the Quiltin4Fun web site for the best quilting threads, pantographs, and other quilting necessities at great prices with old fashioned customer service. As a KenQuilt owner, Quiltin4Fun carries some of the parts for the KenQuilt machines and will work to get parts not kept in stock.

There were so many quilts for Show & Share this month, so be sure to check out all the photos on the gallery page (link above).

Not all quilts come out perfect. Although as longarm quilters there are many things we can do to improve the look of a quilt top. We will discuss the basics of preparing and loading your quilt, so that it finishes square, flat and balanced, or almost. Tips for wavy borders, hole in the fabric, fullness in blocks, etc. So if you quilt for customers or just for yourself, you will leave with confidence knowing how to tackle those not so perfect tops.
