October 2026 Meeting

  • Date: October 17, 2026
  • Program: Fabric Dyeing – Shibori & Beyond (Fabrics You’ll Dye Over!)”
  • Speaker: Jane Vineyard, Lifestitched; Wichita, KS

In October get ready to be wowed by our own KLQ member Jane Vineyard of Lifestitched longarm quilting located in Wichita, KS. Jane is not only a longtime member but has also served on our board in charge of Membership for the past several years. In her spare time (what?!) she works at A-1 Sewing Center, so she brings a wealth of information to share with us.

In this inspiring presentation, “Fabric Dyeing – Shibori & Beyond (Fabrics You’ll Dye Over!),” explore the art of fabric dyeing, with a focus on Shibori—a resist-dye technique where folding, twisting, and binding fabric creates beautiful, unexpected patterns with Indigo Dye.

A wide variety of other dyeing approaches will be discussed, including:

  • Fabric dyed with and without folding
  • Single-color dye techniques
  • Non-Shibori folding styles for unique designs
  • How different dyes produce different results
  • Where to buy some products

Jane will share a range of finished samples, along with the tools and products she uses, so guests can see exactly how each technique comes together.

Whether new to dyeing or ready to expand skills, this workshop will leave viewers inspired and excited to create one-of-a-kind fabrics.

August 2026 Meeting

  • Date: August 15, 2026
  • Program: Quilt Painting
  • Speaker: Eva Saunders; Gingerly Quilt Co.; Charlottesville, VA

Our August speaker is Eva Saunders, owner of Gingerly Quilt Co. located in Charlottesville, VA.

Eva has been sewing since she was young. Her grandma was a seamstress and hanging out in her sewing room was inspiring and educational. Eva watched her grandma sew for clients, learned to hand quilted beautiful quilts with her, and also how to design and alter her own clothes.

Eva has a background in visual arts, design, teaching and filmmaking and thought “why not combine these talents with sewing to help others grow as artists and quilters?!”

As a designer, Eva loves dreaming up modern and approachable quilt patterns for all quilting levels. But she won’t stop there. If you’ve ever thought about getting into art quilting and were looking for a modern approach to it, she offers an art quilting class, “Starry Night Quilt Painting,” available on her website!
